Reclining Chair – The Ultimate in Comfortable Chairs

There are few chairs that can match the reclining chair in comfort, with its lowered back and raised front. The backrest is easily tilted back, and the front has a foot-rest that extends when you recline the chair. These chairs are popular the world over, especially in areas influenced by Western styles.
Two cousins started a furniture company in 1927, and they peddled novelty furniture styles there, in Detroit, Michigan. The first recliner was created in Monroe, Michigan in the late 1920's. They modified a wooden chair so that the seat extended forward as the back was reclined. It was some time later that they made a model with padding.
By 1931, Shoemaker and Knabusch filed for a patent after inventing the first recliner that was automatic. The store became the La-Z-Boy store (also called Lazy Boy), and the chair kept that name and is still very popular today. The name was picked from those submitted by employees when they were asked to give the owners ideas for the new company name. In the mid 1940's, Barcalounger added in the idea of the foot-rest built into the chair. La-Z-Boy would add that feature, four years after Barcalounger did. Recliners found great popularity through the 1970's, and then their popularity declined, but they were resurrected later as “motion furniture” in the 1980's. They also appeared in the TV shows Frasier and Friends.
A traditional or swivel reclining chair can give you health benefits, as well as being incredibly comfortable. Having your feet elevated is a great way to keep the blood flow in your legs and feet at its optimum level. Recliners stretch into a lounging position, which relaxes your body, and you can easily fall asleep in a recliner. Lift chairs recliners can even help you lift back to your feet, if you have trouble with mobility.
The designs work with many types of décor, and they can add a dignified and timeless look. Recliners can add style to your home office, family room or den. There are many materials used to finish recliners, so you're sure to find one that strikes your fashion sense. Fine leather recliners look great in nearly any room, and other fabrics can be chosen that look good in specific environments.
A chair's comfort is of the ultimate importance when you select chairs for your office or home. Recliners allow you to relax and work on a laptop at the same time. They also give you proper neck and head support. They should lock into place when fully reclined, to firmly support your back. Lumbar, neck and head support allows these chairs to give you reliable and soothing relief to aching muscles, and thus can help to alleviate fatigue. If you spend a lot of your work time in front of a PC at work, a recliner at home can help you unwind and get the kinks out of your back and neck.
Reclining chairs can be substantially more expensive than other types of chairs, so select carefully. Leather rocker recliner chairs and zero gravity reclining chairs will probably cost more than the rest. Test out the chair before you buy, and make sure that your new reclining chair will be everything you've dreamed of.
